Interested in having a go at scuba diving? Then try the PADI Discover Scuba Diving Experience. The PADI DSD Experience is a one-day introduction to diving and is available to all those aged 10 years and over. This is a great way to see if you like scuba diving before booking a PADI Open Water Diver course. If it's your first time visiting the Izu Peninsula, it's also a great way to dip your toes into the world of scuba diving and enjoy some sightseeing.

Learn the basics of diving. The contents are kept simple so that anyone can do it! Participants will receive a Discover Scuba Diving course booklet. This teaches you things like how to manage water pressure and other diving skills. With the help of your PADI instructor, you'll have mastered it in no time.
We'll teach you how to use the diving equipment, and you'll get to know how to wear the diving gear. Find out how to wear and use each piece of equipment for your first dive. Once you're in the water, the fit of the gear will feel different. We'll ensure you're kitted out properly with equipment that fits you. You only need to bring a swimsuit. |

Get used to swimming using a mask, snorkel and fins!
You'll get plenty of practice so that you can swim around smoothly on the surface of the water with your fins. The extra buoyancy and warmth from the wetsuit helps too! When you're feeling confident in the water, we'll move on to the next stage. Even complete beginners can learn safely in the shallow waters. Your PADI instructor will check your equipment alongside you. Before you start swimming, you'll begin learning how to breathe from the tank while still standing up in the water. After you're comfortable in the water, we'll gradually start practicing the safety skills. |

Get ready for your first ocean dive! Underwater skills and safety checks.
After you've had some practice in the shallows, it's time for your first dive! Your PADI instructor will help you get the hang of equalising the pressure in your ears, using underwater hand signals, and moving your body underwater.. You can see many kinds of sea creatures. Have a go observing them in their natural habitat. Now that you're comfortable underwater in your diving gear, take the time to observe the sea life all around you. Sometimes the fish will even come up to check you out. Just relax and have fun swimming freely underwater. |

Experience even more on your second dive. This is where the adventure really begins! After taking it easy on your lunch break, we'll start the second dive. Now you've mastered the basic skills, you can have fun exploring the ocean. You'll be guided by your PADI instructor, with at most one other participant. You can enjoy observing the ocean life, and we'll be taking lots of photos of your adventure!
Total beginners can enjoy two full dives on this course. East Dive's Discover Scuba Diving Program has two dives scheduled, so that you can get the full diving experience. One training dive and one fun dive means that you get to learn new skills and have fun underwater. . |
Ocean Facilities (Izu peninsula）
The Discover Diving program will take place at Futo in East Izu Peninsula. The calm water and underwater landscape make it the perfect location for beginners to practice their diving skills. The depth ranges from 5 - 8ｍ, so you will have plenty of space to practice. Outside facilities include: a break room, rest rooms, heated showers, onsen baths, a microwave, hot water, a refrigerator and a vending machine.
Every day, diving operations to the Izu Peninsula depart from Atami Station.

Check out Diving!
To take Discover Scuba Diving, you must be at least 10 years old and be able to swim. While not an actual scuba certification, during the DSD experience you’ll learn how to use scuba equipment in shallow water and understand what it takes to explore the underwater world. There is nothing like breathing underwater for the very first time! It takes a little getting used to, but after a few minutes, you'll realize how easy scuba diving is. The biggest challenge instructors have with the Discover Scuba Diving program is not coaxing participants into the water, but trying to get them out when the program is over. It’s all fun! Step 1: During your PADI DSD Experience with East Dive, you'll begin with a short scuba diving training session. In a confined water environment, you will master the 6 key diving skills required to give you confidence and safety when diving. Step 2: With PADI professional dive guide, you will explore the underwater environment and enjoy a dive in shallow waters. |

All dives are with PADI Instructor. On your course, a PADI instructor who speaks English will be there (Dives Staff are speaking Japanese, English, French, and Portuguese) If you're a lone diver, don't worry—we can pair you up with a diving buddy .
